Around Winnipeg this Weekend

Camerata Nova will hold a free Christmas concert this weekend, Christmas in Early America.

Camerata Nova is a vocal group without fear, performing medieval, Renaissance, Aboriginal and contemporary music. Often singing a cappella, the group also enjoys accompaniment from didgeridoos, crystal bowls, strings, all kinds of percussion, and/or early instruments. Now in their 14th year, they continue to push the envelope, offering authentic early music performances, premieres of Manitoba compositions and an eclectic array in between.

Also this weekend is an annual Christmas craft show at the Winnipeg Convention Centre downtown, with hundreds of artisans selling handmade items, local and from across Canada.  Admission is also free.

There is also the Winnipeg Aboriginal Film Festival, University of Manitoba Bisons men's and women's volleyball and men's hockey, and University of Winnipeg Wesmen men's and women's volleyball.

Santa Claus Parade This Weekend

Remember we will be meeting this Saturday to watch the annual Santa Claus Parade  Now with all this snow it feels more like time for it.  We will meet at 5:00 right on Portage Avenue downtown, next to the Bay in front of the Tim Horton's, so we are really close for getting hot chocolate!  Dress warmly.
